Two Major Export Varieties

🤍 Kabuli Chickpea (White Chana)
Larger, cream-coloured, mild flavour. Preferred in European, Middle Eastern, and North American markets for direct consumption, canning, and hummus production. Available in sizes: 42/44, 44/46, 58/60 count.
🟤 Desi Chickpea (Black/Brown Chana)
Smaller, darker, nuttier flavour, higher fibre. Used in dal, flour (besan), and snack manufacturing. Dominant in South Asian diaspora markets and health food applications globally.

Export Quality Standards

International buyers specify chickpeas by variety, size/count per 100g, moisture content, and defect tolerance. Standard specifications from House of Rasa:

  • Moisture: Maximum 12%
  • Foreign matter: Maximum 0.5%
  • Broken/Damaged: Maximum 1–2% (food grade)
  • Weevilled/Pest-damaged: Nil (food grade)
  • Aflatoxin: As per destination country MRL (B1 typically <5 ppb)

Fumigation & Phytosanitary

All chickpea exports from India require phytosanitary treatment. We carry out methyl bromide fumigation as required by destination country authorities, with certification issued by NPPO-India. For EU buyers, we provide fumigation alternatives compliant with EU 528/2012 biocide regulations upon request.
